In the course of life we are confronted with many challenges. Collaborative work can be, on the one hand, a joyful experience of communal effort and inspiration, but on the other hand, a source of frustration and conflict.
How do we deal with these two dimensions? How can we overcome our shortcomings? Can we recognize the uniqueness of the other(s)? Is there a recipe for successful and fruitful collaboration?

In the next four chapters we will look at theoretical and practical approaches to improving your skills for joyful, productive and meaningful collaboration.

General Overview

In the first part, INTROSPECTION, we will begin with the psychological dynamics of an individual. We will take a look at different personality types (within the matrix of the 8 forms of intelligence from Howard Gardner). Self-awareness is linked to one’s emotions, thoughts and inner beliefs. Howard Gardner ‘s theory of Multiple Intelligence will serve as a holistic framework for recognizing one’s competencies and their impact on group dynamics.

In the second part, RECOGNIZING OTHER(S), we will introduce the importance of mindfulness in the context of Emotional and Social Intelligence (from Daniel Goleman). We will focus on building empathic and assertive relationships.

In the third part, COMMUNICATION, we will introduce different ways of communicating with the aim of improving clarity in the transmission of information within the group.

In the fourth part, CONFLICT MANAGEMENT, we will focus on how to shift perspective to turn conflict into an opportunity for improvement.
