Maltesers (the Order of Malta Relief Organization) represent the oldest charity in the world – the Sovereign Order of Malta that provides assistance for the poor in 120 countries.

On September 16, 2021, in the village of Vieksnaliai, Telsiai district, Maltesers opened the first care home called in the name of St. John the Baptist. The establishment of a care home completes the chain of comprehensive services we provide to seniors – to ensure the care of the elderly in care at a time when Maltesers’ meal visits are no longer enough, when constant care is necessary.

In Maltesers care home we create an environment in which seniors feel like they are in their home, surrounded by family members.

• Social work services;
• Health care and nursing;
• Household and personal hygiene services;
• Occupancy and leisure;
• Religious services.

Leisure employment is organized according to the needs, hobbies, opportunities and level of autonomy of the elderly. Participation in leisure occupancy promotes greater cooperation and communication between residents, provides an opportunity for the resident to engage in the desired activities and discover something new. Malteser home volunteers are actively involved in employment activities. The first groups of board games, handicrafts, sports enthusiasts are already gathering.
